Then build a frame on that base the size you want the concrete to be outv'e 3*1 timbers. Then fill that in with concrete. Getting a contractor to do it would most probably be better if your not experienced in it at all though.nondisclosed_email@example.com (banditmax1988)Sun, 17 May 2009 11:08:51 +0000 Re: Been away a whilehttps://bgsxr400.runboard.com/p1998266,from=rss#post1998266https://bgsxr400.runboard.com/p1998266,from=rss#post1998266Cheers for that Gary My concern is my garden is on a slight slope, so one end would have to be say 4" and the opposite end like 12" to create a level base, then I don't know how I stand with when it rains, and if I need any damp proofing, the whole idea is giving me headache dunno what to do I think I'll have to pay a contractor to come in and do it, I just hope it wont cost the earth, or a shed load (lol cool puns or what) nondisclosed_email@example.com (gsxr400rr)Sun, 17 May 2009 08:26:28 +0000 Re: Been away a whilehttps://bgsxr400.runboard.com/p1998265,from=rss#post1998265https://bgsxr400.runboard.com/p1998265,from=rss#post1998265Concrete base is easy enough Matt. Dig a hole the size and shape of the floor you need. Make it about 6 inches deep if you want the base to stand proud of the surrounding surface or 9 inches if you want it level. Fill it with 6 inches of hardcore and tamp it down good and hard. If the base is to be level with the surrounding area then just pour your mixed concrete in on top to a depth of about 3 inches. If it's to be standing proud of the surrounding area then put up some shuttering and pour the concrete into that. Leave it to go off for a day or so before you walk on it and keep it covered if it looks like it's going to rain.nondisclosed_email@example.com (garynortheast)Sat, 16 May 2009 21:10:09 +0000 Re: Been away a whilehttps://bgsxr400.runboard.com/p1998262,from=rss#post1998262https://bgsxr400.runboard.com/p1998262,from=rss#post1998262Evening Gary Yeah me injuries are still bad brusing and swelling gone but man no strength in left forearm and right delt, cant do any weights at gym at all waiting for appointment for physio coming through but I got a feelin I'll need some kinda operation, I been stretching gently and its makin it worse I think the Honda is ok, needs tax and mot, gonna get it mot'd next week, still dont like it as much as me gixer lol its so much lighter the GSX-R and I do like inline 4's. I agree a garage is the only way to store / maintain a motorcycle, am gonna get a 10 x 13 ft metal shed 400 quid but I need a concrete base doin first and I aint got a clue, I dont have the skills, tools or know how to pull it off, I wonder how much it would cost for someone to come do me a concrete base ? Once I have that the bikes can come to me new house and I can tinker a lot more then When I pull throttle back on the GSX-R theres a click in the carbs, I think sommats fell or not in right, gonna strip and try again, desperate for it to run right, it did 125mph with incorrect valve clearance, so am hopeful for 130mph + now its done with jet kit and filters Yep I wont be away now, just moving house was difficult and no net for a while but this bad boy is back nondisclosed_email@example.com (gsxr400rr)Sat, 16 May 2009 20:52:50 +0000 Re: Been away a whilehttps://bgsxr400.runboard.com/p1998260,from=rss#post1998260https://bgsxr400.runboard.com/p1998260,from=rss#post1998260Hallo Matt, good to see you back on the boards. I was wondering just yesterday how you were getting on. Sorry to hear you're still hurting from the crash though. What was the doctor's opinion - had you broken anything or is it bad bruising? That little Honda looks very smart. I take it it's all fully sorted and running? The garden shed/workshop sounds like an excellent idea. It's a nightmare trying to work outside, inside with light, heat, power and a relatively clean environment is the only way to be doing bike mechanics ain't it? As to the revving out to 5000rpm thing - what was the last thing you did to the bike? Also I'd have another look at your valve clearances. Keep us posted mate and don't disappear for quite so long next time! nondisclosed_email@example.com (garynortheast)Sat, 16 May 2009 20:17:55 +0000 Re: Been away a whilehttps://bgsxr400.runboard.com/p1998258,from=rss#post1998258https://bgsxr400.runboard.com/p1998258,from=rss#post1998258P.S. eres a pic of me new bike today nondisclosed_email@example.com (gsxr400rr)Sat, 16 May 2009 16:53:48 +0000 Been away a whilehttps://bgsxr400.runboard.com/p1998257,from=rss#post1998257https://bgsxr400.runboard.com/p1998257,from=rss#post1998257Howdy super cool 400 owners Not been on the site for last month or so, been busy moving house finally took the plunge and moved in with the missus Still GSX-R crazy, some of you will know my posts, had a terrible idle condition, sorted that it was VALVE CLEARANCES but in the mean time I did sommat else and now it wont rev above 5,000rpm lol. Anyway 6 weeks ago I crashed me R1 up peak district, first motorcycle accident ever am still in pain from it with weak arms and wrists, I sold it and with money today I bought another bike... Honda RVF 400 its a 98 model and I paid 2.5k for it, its a "lot" heavier than me GSX-R 400RR SP2 and I still have more passion for me gixer than the RVF simply because I piled so much cash, parts and man hours into it I have to see it through until the end, then I'll be left with two exotic motorcycles (gsx-r still me fav, me own filters rock, barnett clutch etc). So.. am saving to get a garage on me new back garden then I'll bring me bikes from me bros house and make a start again on the gixer and hopefully get it running Be nice to get someone to come run the RVF and me on the gixer for some close racing on the road Anyway wanted to pop in say Hi not forgot about y'all and as soon as I get some space ere I'll be back to tinkering and makin me GSX-R a 600 killer. Hope everyone is well. Matt nondisclosed_email@example.com (gsxr400rr)Sat, 16 May 2009 16:51:20 +0000
