GK73a Carb question!

hello peeps! anyone with major experience on these mikuni carbs? i opened up a set that i had for spares to fix it up and i noticed that the 1st and 4th carb had slightly bigger main jet, 92.5 whereas the 2nd and 3rd had 90 emoticon.
from what i ve read the stock main jet is 97.5 emoticon
i will have to pop out my carbs and check them as well soonish i guess emoticon
p.s: i found a needle which is similar to 5DH7 (they don't exist anymore unless you buy another set like i did..) but 6mm longer. i measured my old ones and they are about the same which means they can be used with a few shims on emoticon . anyone in america that can order and post to Greece? (site wont post to Greece emoticon )

Re: GK73a Carb question!

From what I recall the jets on the middle two carbs are smaller. This is because the middle two cylinders run hotter than the outer cylinders so the air passing through the middle carbs is hotter and less dense. If the same amount of fuel was supplied to the carbs with the less dense and consequently lower volume of air as was being supplied to the outer carbs then the inner carbs would be feeding an over rich mixture to the two middle cylinders.
Hope that makes sense.

ah yes it makes sense gary! thanks for the info. i would have never thought it that way. i went to ask my mechanic today and he said maybe the engine is built to ask more fuel from 1st and 4th for some reason and some other things that came up his mind. well the difference isn't that big anyway! but i think i will have to get some bigger jets soon as i got a custom made exhaust on and gave the bike some pull emoticon
