Evening all

Hello everyone, just a quick note to introduce myself.

I bought a GSXR 400 about three months ago with carb issues. Unfortunately I have been so ridiculously busy I haven't had a chance to get them off and have a look.

I'm hoping it's just a simple case of replace the O-rings and balance.

Once she's running right I can turn my attention to the suspension and hopefully end up with a fun little track day weapon.

Hallo and welcome along.

Which version of the little gixer have got? Certainly on the 76a the o rings are a perennial issue. Have a look at the link in ]this post. Should give you a start on the subject.

Cheers buddy, my bike is indeed the GK76A model. I'm determined to get the carbs of the bike this evening, driven on by the warm weather.

Are the O-rings easy to get hold of?

When I bought the bike the old owner believed one of the floats had a crack in it, causing one cylinder to flood. This a common fault? gonna strip them down anyways and have a look.

Cheers again

Have a good look at the link to the Tony Sleep website, he explains all! I've not heard that a cracked float is a common issue, be worth a look to see though.

hi there and welcome! proud owner of a notorious gk73a (spent days of my life with its carbs) and was glad to see you have the gk76a! emoticon

when your o-rings arrive dont forget to check and set if needed the float height. also while you are waiting make sure to clear thoroughly the carbs with any carb cleaner and then with gas. DONT and i say DONT mess with the fuel mixture screw! take off anything else u like but not that screw as it takes ages to get it straight on all 4 carbs(i almost threw my spare carbs against the wall a couple of times emoticon .)
flooding could be caused by o-rings as well but make sure to inspect the floats of course. it could be different float height causing it too.
track suggestions: braided hoses, sticky tyres, i think ohlins is making custom suspension for the gk76a. rest are up to you emoticon
have fun and keep us posted!
p.s: gary i got fed with the pocket-rocket superproblematic gk73a carbs and went to a BMW F650GS 1995 model.. just sweet change emoticon
