Very nice too. They are cracking bikes, those Suzuki V twin engines are lovely.
Keep an eye on the oil levels and change it and the filter every 4500 - 5000miles and it should go for ever. If that is the 650 then it's pretty much the same engine as I have in my SV.

Yeah its the 650 and I am told the engine is the same. Yes oil and filters are a must emoticon

There's also a little drain hole on the right hand side of the engine which prevents water from filling the spark plug recess. It's worth checking regularly that it's clear as it can sometimes become blocked with crud and cause problems in the rain.

Could you do me a favour please and post a picture of the plug shield which hangs down just below the radiator. I'm interested to see just where exactly it's positioned and how big it is as I'm trying to make an effective one for my sv650s

I'm not sure with the V-strom but I think there is a flap on the top of the front cylinder which is designed to stop water getting onto the spark plug. The SV and the V strom are notorious for having the front cylinder cut out in wet weather when rain gets at the front plug.
