Summer's nearly gone...

So as we head to the end of the summer (at least here in Britain) any reflections on the riding season this year?

Seems to have been the best summer we've had here for at least 4 years. I've managed to get a few decent length rides in and not had to wash the bike all that often.

I'm hoping that we will still get a few more days of decent weather before the winter murk and gloom kicks in. This time of the year can be really good for riding out as the majority of the tourists and caravan tuggers have buggered off and left us natives with some (hopefully)dry and empty roads to play on.

I shall give the bike a really good clean fairly soon and coat it in ACF50 to keep the impending blitz of road salt at bay, and then think about getting a few jobs done on it.

I have several items sat in the garage waiting to be fitted. I've got a rear subframe in pretty good condition to replace the rusting one currently on the bike. I just want to touch up a few chips to the paintwork on the "new" one with some black Smoothrite before I fit it.
I also have a set of LEDs for the instrument panel to replace the standard fitment bulbs, all of which have now died!
Sitting on the workbench too, is an electrical gizmo distribution device which will switch on and off with the ignition. Useful for running heated gloves, satnavs, and the like.
I may try and find myself a front fairing subframe and fit that to replace the current one which, like the rear one, is in need of powder coating.

Main thing for me now though is to get out and make the most of the last few weeks of good riding conditions.

Gary.

Has been a fine dry summer in Guernsey, only use the gk71b on dry days...got a VT500E for all year round, lovely bikes, reminds me of my London courier days emoticon

Hopefully winter is not going to be too severe, the bike is my only way to get to work

So nice to see such a well looked after baby gixer, looks a real treat, so it does. And the VT is pretty damned tidy too, especially considering it's a winter bike!
