GK76 pistons/rings/cylinders
Hello M8's,
Some of you may have read of my dealings with a rebuild of a GK76.
I've gathered up all the parts that I need, surprisingly enough. I do have one problem though. The bloke who sold me the bike gave me the engine in pieces. Not a problem at all for me, save for a parts issue. It turns out that when he disassembled the engine, he removed the pistons & then reinstalled them alone in the cylinder bores. This is normally not a problem, but over time, the lubrication was wiped off the bores & the cyinders all rusted (significantly) right at the point where the pistons were sitting. Checking with Suzuki, only the standard rings are available, which I have. Neither of the oversize pistons (.4mm or 1.0mm) or rings are available. This is a bit of a dilemma, as having the cyinders sleeved is a major $ & there aren't any other options for me over here.
Can anyone on the other side of the pond help? Does anyone have a standard GK76 cylinder bank in good nick around? Are there any parts acquiring suggestions that any may have?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Enzo
