Alternators Electrex or North West Motorcycle Solutions
Does any one have any preferance/opinions on GK73 aftermarket alternators, reliability etc ?
It seems to be a choice between Electrex and North West Motorcycle Solutions.
Cheers,
Ian.

Never heard of either! Sorry dude! I just normally weigh up the price's. Not necessarily 'cause of the cheapest but if it sounds really cheap then it normally is. Know what I mean? If you do actually get stuck I might have a spare! Haven't checked the output yet but I'll let you know!

Re: Alternators Electrex or North West Motorcycle Solutions
I brought an electrex one for my 400 last year...
It's been fine...does the job well...only thing was it didn't come with a rubber grommit so had to knock something out of the origional one that was moulded to the wires of the old generator to seal it off.
Anyway just swapped the engine on my 400...so if you want to buy my electrex one off of me (assuming it fits your bike I'd have to check) then let me know

Re: Alternators Electrex or North West Motorcycle Solutions
They're about the same price, I needed two so I ordered 1 from each.
North West Motorcycle Solutions http://www.cdiunit.co.uk/ have them on order
The Electrex one arrived today but some of the insulation was missing bits here and there (looked as if it has rubbed off in transit) so I'll sent it back for another unit.
Don't know when the North West Motorcycle Solutions will get here (he's got about 20 on order)
Cheers for the offer Furry, though I'd rather get one with a years warranty left on it - had too many 'mares with Suzuki electrics in the past.
Cheers,
Ian.

LOL no probs m8 it's in good nick will stay on the shelf as spares
Hmmmmm sounds like that one they sent you has been knocked about...I know you gotta be careful with them as the resin on them is brittle...so they should have packed it well...send it back and have a moan

Re: Alternators Electrex or North West Motorcycle Solutions
I'll send it off today, wierd thing is it was wrapped in two layers of corrugated cardboard and placed in a small stout box !
Anyway a couple of guys at work suggested I take some pictures of it first - sounds like a good idea.
Cheers,
Ian.

Re: Alternators Electrex or North West Motorcycle Solutions
Sounds like a wise move m8...
When I wanted one from them...I had a bit of a faff round as I sent them one I had here (that was good) so they could work out which one I needed...
Told them to send me the new one and that one I sent them...both back to me together...
parcel arrived...only got the new one in there...
Phoned em..."wheres the one I sent you"...
"Oh the old one...we threw it away"
"Threw it away you t**t???!?!?!?, that one was good...only sent it so you could compare"
"Oh emmmmm errrrrrr...I'll dig it out and send it back to you"
So anyway...got it back 2 weeks later...with the lead cut off from it...cheers!
Only thing I can say is the new one they sent me has been in the bike not far off of 2 yrs now and it's been spot on...just a shame communications there end ain't as good LOL

Re: Alternators Electrex or North West Motorcycle Solutions
Sounde like they've got SCD (Standard Conpany Disease ) Left hand knows what to do and how to do it. Right hand might how to do it but hasn't been told what to do - or can't remember.
Glad your electrics are fine (must ba s first for a Suzuki )
Anyway the woman I spoke to on the phone was suitably dis-chuffed that the alternator wasn't in perfect condition and said just send it - no problem.
Cheers,
Ian.
