Hello from the U.S.A.
Hello M8's!
I'm new to the board, so here I am. I'm in charge of restoring a GK76A for a friend & I see that if there's any info to be had, it's here. A brief bio: I'm a 10 year expert roadracer on a GSXR750, semi retired, just do select stuff. I've been a car & bike mechanic for 20 years. I have my own side business where I do various stuff for street racers & the like. Also have another business where I rebuild small Honda horizontal engines. The engines or for classic Honda minis like the CT70/Dax bike, the Honda Z50/SS50 & the like.I live eat & breath bikes. It's not a hobby, it's a neccecity. I have 2 restored Honda mini-trails at the foot of my bed & ride several other bikes like an XR100 trainer (best bike MADE) & a CRF450 motocrosser. I'm more than familiar with the workings of an inline 4 motor, but as you all seem to understand, the info on these bikes arent straight available, but it looks like it can be had if you ask the right person. I've ordered a GK73 shop manual off Ebay & have the GK76 parts manual on CD. Only the engine is currently in my posession & it's disassembled. I purchased it with a crank that had 2 bad center connecting rod bearings (& rods) shot. Someone went into the trans for something & sealed up the motor with too much goop, clogged the oil pump & there you go. I got it for short money. I've ordered a Bandit 4 crank. It's not here yet. I'm looking for info on cross reference of those engine parts that I will be needing. I've been told that the GK73 is the same as the U.S. spec Bandit 4, but NOT the GK76A. Anyone out there able to assist? I will be needing to order more engine internals after it has been determined that the crank fits or not.
Cheers!
